Silly + Boring = Happy!!!

Silly + boring = happy!!

being happy is seen as indicating silliness, boringness or lack of creativity.
("To be stupid, and selfish, and to have good health are the three requirements for happiness,"
groused Gustave Flaubert, "though if stupidity is lacking, the others are useless.")

Do you know,
that researcher Timothy Ketelaar note that smiling indicates eagerness to please, suggesting low status.

If a Prada model isn't smiling, she clearly doesn't need to, implying high status.
Brands that target less wealthy customers, they use smiling models,
suggesting lower status, and thus - affordability.

US psychologists have cropped pictures of models in ads so only their faces were visible,
then asked people to rank them in order of mood.
The results are splendid! Models advertising pricier brands were judged to look glummer!
Take Victoria Beckham for example, how often do you see her smile?

Despite that, psychology's lesson is that we're drawn to happy people.
Afterall, who wants to listen to the wretched.

and.. I've been told that I look serious & glum all the time. Darn..
(Note to noob, even if it's true that the most creative minds are unhappy,
it doesn't follow that becoming unhappy will make you creative, get it?)

Tired

Tom Sawyer days was long gone.
Missed those days when you long for open season,
and then trying to fish a trout in the canal.

Now, I find myself back in the media agency.
pimping myself at work.

There's Hotel Mania's launch in Cineleisure, and
There's The Star CNY lunch @ Renaissance.

They serve good Japanese food.

Then there is meeting in Shah Alam.

And ASTRO's dinner.. but

the most onz thing that happened today,

"What's the total spending on radio spotbuy in 2009?"

I was gratified to be able to answer promptly,

I said...

"I don't know."

Hung Pao

KLue word of the month - Hung Pao.
Noun, during the chinese lunar new year,
a red envelope containing a surprisingly large amount of money;
an unexpectdly prosperous ang pao.

During the Lunar new year,

the twin cultural obsesions of the Chinese - the colour red,
and number of fisal persuasion - manifest in the ang pao,
a crimson pocket containing cash.

The ang pao functions as a measure of prosperity;

One learns to evaluate one's uncles and aunts according to how much they give.
Familial hierarchy is thus re-established every year.

With the economy in the shape it is today, ang pao are unfortunately rare. Still, one lives in hope of a RM1,000 windfall.

I know this girl who whines about everything.
FML she said, and I thought, that sometimes,
the inability to do a simplest task or to cope with things,
probably contributes to how she feel's about herself.

I have been working late night these days.
While having dinner with my boss, he asked if I'm stress out.
No, I replied. and we both know it's a lie.
At least I know what I'm doing, and what needs to be done.

The sad part about my job as a media planner,
has to be - me, being reduced to churning out schedules day in, day out.

I have not actually sat down and work on strat. planning.
I believe that I can contribute more,
or not..
as the organization is shortchanging themselves on resources.
Hey, I'm no energizer bunny..

Anyhow,
would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone happy CNY!
may you be blessed with happiness, good health & prosperity!!

Stana's joke

A guy meets a hooker in a bar.

She says, "this is your lucky night. Let's play a game.
I'll do absolutely anything you want for $300,
so long as you can say it in three words."

The guy replies, "Hey, why not?"

He pulls his wallet out of his pocket and,
one at a time, lay three $100 bills on the bar and says slowly,
"paint.. my.. house."
