There is many questions out there asking about coprocessor and how to identify a driver for it,
most Dell support suggest users to ignore it as it doesnt affect Windows 8.
I can't live with the unidenfied device on my device manager and have tinkered around for this coprocessor fix. I think if you search for this, it means we are all in the same boat.
First of all,
coprocessor driver do exists and it is part of a chipset driver that comes with your Alienware CD.
To install coprocessor driver for those who upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8.1
1. you have to install nVidia MCP79 Chipset into windows 8.
This driver comes with Alienware CD, look up a file called Nvidia Chipset
(Win7/WinVista 64-bit nForce UDA driver package)
2. After installation, identify that you have the folder in your computer under file explorer
This PC > Local Disk C:(mine is c:, yours might be different) > dell > drivers > R273039
3. go to device manager and look for "Other devices" which says [!] coprocessor
right click and go to second tab under driver, click update driver and select Browse my computer for driver software
4. go to browse and select your drivers at C:\dell\drivers\R273039\SMU folder
(click next..follow instructions from there)
